How to create a token

GitHub

Open the token page on GitHub ↗

Token name: anything, for example Statico. Expiration: a date you are comfortable with.
Resource owner: the account or organisation that owns the repository.
Repository access: Only select repositories, and pick this one repository.
Permissions → Repositories → Add permissions: Contents and Pull requests.
Set both to Access: Read and write (Metadata: Read-only is added by itself).
Generate token, copy it and paste it above. GitHub shows it only once.

GitLab

Open the project → Settings → Access tokens → Add new token.
Role: Developer, or Maintainer if the branch is protected.
Scopes: write_repository and api (api lets us open a merge request).
Create the token, copy it and paste it above.

Bitbucket

Open the repository → Repository settings → Access tokens → Create.
Scopes: Repositories: Write and Pull requests: Write.
Create the token, copy it and paste it above.

Build variables

Your build reads these variables. Their values go to the build settings of the preview; we do not keep them.

What should we change?

Publish

Sends every finished edit to your repository; your own CI deploys the site from there.
